I’ve had this suede fringe skirt since August, but I’ve been hesitant to wear it – not because I didn’t know what to pair with it, but because I hate skirts and dresses that are tight on my stomach. Naturally, I decided to wear it on Thanksgiving, because what’s better then wearing a body conscious skirt on a day that’s dedicated to eating? I figured “what the heck, my family will still love me if I have a food baby,” so I rocked the damn thing.
A long fringe skirt screams “Pocahontas” to me, so I figured I’d go all out and pair it with a faux fur vest to really bring me back to my Colors of the Wind days. (Sorry for playing that song on straight repeat for all of 1995, Mom.) I’ve been really into mixing black and brown together lately so I thought the neutral vest would help saturate the harsh black and camel together. Secret tip? Vests are an amazing piece to throw on over a fitted dress or skirt; they’re short enough to still show off your butt (let’s be real, that’s why you’re really wearing a bodycon dress), but cover up any areas you may be self-conscious about, like I am with my (lack of) lower abs.
I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving filled with lots of food, no family drama, and all the wine. My Pocahontas outfit and I sure did!
